This tab (inside the tab 'Toolbox') can show which IP addresses your computer is currently using on any of the active network cards. You can start a scan which will show which other devices are reachable in the connected subnets. The displayed manufacturer names will help identifying the device and you can give each device a unique label. These labels will be remembered and saved.
If a device is reachable you can immediately also check which mappable drives are presented by it.
Intruder Alert: As a security feature you can let Mighty Desktop execute one of the actions you defined in the Actions tab if an unlabeled device (=unknown device) appears in your network. This can for example happen if a hacker cracked your WiFi password. FYI: You can have a good password generated in the Security Functions tab.
Finding a Printer: Some printer drivers are not well programmed and stop working when a printer gets assigned a new IP address by the dynamic name system (DNS) of your router. To resolve the problem you can open the settings control panel of the printer, go into the port assignment page and edit the current port number. Mighty Desktop makes finding the right port number quite easy: Just run this intranet scan here and the current IP of your printer is displayed.
Features:
- Works also if multiple network adapters are present
- Works for any subnet mask, not just the default 255.255.255.0
- IP Version 6 is supported too.
The button to scan the intranet is itself represented by a Might Command which means you can configure Mighty Desktop to execute a scan in regular intervals and get an alert in case of a breach. You can do that in the tab Scheduler.
