WAV files are the original Windows audio files, developed by IBM and Microsoft. They store audio uncompressed, which unfortunately also makes the files very large. Nowadays, MP3 is the new standard, where inaudible noises in the audio are filtered out and the compression rate can also be adjusted. MP3 files are therefore much smaller and save space on the drive. Multimedia Xpert can easily convert multiple audio files to MP3 in one go:
- The files can simply be dragged into the window using the mouse. If you want to remove the previous list, hold down the Alt key when dropping.
- Select output specification Audio MP3
- Optionally, press the blue button to the right to display the current settings for this specification. The quality is usually selected in the Audio bit rate field. You can also extract and convert only part of the audio.
Multimedia Xpert is specially designed to convert many files in a single run without user input. For example, file names can be converted automatically. More information about this in Overwrite Management.
Solutions for conversion problems
- If you hear only an inferior sound after a conversion, it is usually because no bitrate was specified in the Specification. In this case, each codec selects its own bitrate. Unfortunately, in a few cases this value is much too low. This problem can be solved by entering 160 or higher in the Audio Bitrate field.
